A Training Plan App That Pushes Workouts to Your Garmin - and Listens Back
Garmin Connect can show you a plan. What most runners want is a plan
that is theirs: built from the running they have actually done, on the
watch as structured workouts with pace targets, and honest when a week
falls apart. That is the gap Get-Split fills, and this is how the
Garmin side of it works.
Connect once, and the plan knows your form
Get-Split connects to your Garmin account and reads your completed
activities. From those it finds your best efforts at every distance -
exact rolling windows over your lap data, not a guess from a
questionnaire - and uses them to set your training paces. Your zones
come from what you have run this season, and they move when you do.
Every workout arrives on the watch, with targets
Pick a goal race and a date, and the plan appears in your calendar. Each
session is pushed to Garmin as a structured workout: warm-up, the main
set with a pace band on every step, recovery, cool-down. Intervals are
repeat groups; strides get a lap-button recovery so the watch waits for
you. On the run you press start and follow the screen. Move a workout
in the Get-Split calendar and it moves on the watch too.
The watch talks back
When the run is done, Get-Split pulls it in, matches it to the planned
session and grades it: were the easy kilometres actually easy, did the
intervals land in the band, how did heart rate drift. A run that
completes a race goal gets a debrief - whether you beat the target,
came close or finished off it, and what the splits say about why.
Only one month on the watch at a time
A plan for a whole season pushed to a watch is noise. Get-Split keeps
the current month on your Garmin calendar and rolls the next month in as
the last one closes, with a short overlap at the boundary so nothing is
ever missing on the day. Delete the plan and the workouts it created are
cleaned up on the watch; your completed activities are never touched.
When the week does not go to plan
Skip a session, get ill, travel: the plan check-in sees what happened
and proposes how to re-pace the coming weeks rather than leaving you
chasing a schedule that no longer fits. Every Sunday a recap tells you
how the week went against the plan, and a weekly streak counts the weeks
you hit it, with one freeze a month for the week that could not happen.
What about Strava?
Strava connects too (how Get-Split compares to Strava). Activities come in from both, are de-duplicated,
and count for everything - stats, records, territory, segments. Strava
cannot receive structured workouts, so the plan-on-the-watch part is
Garmin's.
Try it with your own history
Connecting Garmin and building a plan is free, and the AI coach reads the same data. The plan will tell you
what it thinks of your target from your own times, and the first
workouts will be on your watch within a minute. Get-Split runs on its
own servers in the EU; your training data is used for your training
and nothing else.
