Garmin Coach hands you generic HR-based sessions. Get-Split reads your Garmin data, calibrates a VDOT, and writes a plan around YOUR target race time with real paces. Then pushes it back to your watch.
| Feature | Garmin Coach | Get-Split |
|---|---|---|
| Paces | Heart rate zones only | VDOT-derived pace + HR |
| Goal time awareness | Target finish only | Full periodization + stretch-goal override |

| Long run structure | Easy only | Progressive → race-sim at goal pace |
| Plan preview | Week-by-week release | Full plan visible day 1 |
| Price | Requires Garmin device | Free forever, device-agnostic |
Get-Split reads from Garmin but also works with Polar, Suunto, and phone GPS. Switch devices without losing your training history. Push workouts to any compatible watch.
No — they can coexist. Get-Split workouts will show up alongside any existing scheduled Garmin Coach workouts. You choose which to follow day-by-day.
Yes — we use standard DI OAuth. Activities come in automatically. Workouts push out automatically. No scripts, no manual uploads.
Any watch that supports structured workouts works — Forerunner 245+, Fenix 6+, Epix, Edge 830+, Venu 2+, etc. Older Forerunner 235s that can only show one target step at a time get simplified workouts.
Polar support is active (push via Flow OAuth). Suunto is read-only for now; push lands in Q2. Phone GPS fallback works for everyone.
Free tier is full-featured: unlimited plans, Garmin sync, VDOT engine, plan validator. Premium ($4/mo) unlocks unlimited plan history, multi-device sync beyond Garmin, and advanced running-form analytics (cadence distribution, vertical oscillation trends, power curves).
